The ISP domain has always been a blind-spot between CDNs and player analytics where the majority of critical streaming issues occur, leaving OTT operators unable to identify the location of a streaming issue’s root cause, and viewers frustrated with bad Quality of Experience (QoE). In this presentation, Brenton Ough talks about Touchstream’s new solution, ISP Insights (Internet Service Provider Insights), that enables operations teams and streaming engineers to visually pinpoint trouble spots between CDN edge nodes and the ISP ASNs (Autonomous System Numbers). Touchstream’s log summarisation engine sheds significant light on this critical area of OTT delivery, an area where, until now, collecting real-time CDN logs has not been possible. It identifies issues like high cache miss ratio and low throughput indicating video buffering by using specialised CDN log analysis techniques and visualisation concepts. Touchstream’s ISP Insights ushers in a new era of essential deep visibility of OTT delivery and troubleshooting, allowing even greater control over QoE, resulting in improved net promoter score (NPS) and reduced churn.
