With the globalization of content, the ability to provide multi-language captions and subtitles that cater to different audiences around the world — while meeting viewers’ increasingly high expectations for higher caption 'quality', and not just average captions — has become crucial for broadcasters and service providers. At the same time, they must ensure compliance with strict regional and industry regulations to avoid fines, while also adhering to the specific requirements of individual OTT companies like Netflix. To meet all of these needs, today’s captioning tools must deliver capabilities far beyond those of their predecessors, whether it’s accuracy, synchronization with audio, overlays with burnt-text, captioning speed, or background color merging. In this presentation, Interra Systems will explore the new requirements broadcasters and service providers face as they extend their reach into different markets around the world, and how today’s captioning technology is keeping up the pace, allowing captions to be created, repurposed and QCed with a higher degree of accuracy and in less time.
