Today there are four Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) each developing 1st and 2nd generation digital broadcasting standards. As media and communications becomes an increasingly international marketplace, convergence across DTT standards becomes increasingly attractive and important. Existing broadcast stations and receivers make it impractical to envision a single, complete standard supplanting the existing four standards in the near future. However, there are elements of each system that could be common among two or more systems, particularly in the upper layers.

Thought leaders from Asia, Europe and the Americas will explore these opportunities for convergence and discuss the potential investments and benefits of pursuing similarities across DTT systems.
