Maxim Jago is an award winning fiction writer-director, who has been making films for 33 years. In that time, he has learned valuable lessons - most of which he wishes someone had told him when he started out!

This session explores the valuable lessons Maxim has learned as a creative, a storyteller, a people manager, director, technologist, and communicator. Maxim will share anecdotes and valuable lessons learned, negotiation techniques and approaches to conflict management, along with a unique perspective on the two key tasks directors must master: to have a vision and communicate it.

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • Effective approaches to teamwork in production
  • How to recognize and inspire authentic performances in actors
  • The strengths and limitations of technology for creative work
  • Forward planning – backwards!
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Staying creative
