Olek Loewenstein is President of Global Sports Business at TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company. Loewenstein oversees all sports content operations for U.S. and Mexico to solidify, maintain and grow the company’s position in the market as “The Home of Soccer.”
Loewenstein is a highly accomplished executive with wide-ranging experience across content, financial strategy and production functions over more than 10 years. He is responsible for all content produced by TUDN – a bi-national state-of-the-art sports content production operation serving a broad portfolio over the air and cable television channels, as well as the companies’ digital publishing and streaming platforms. He is the architect of the TUDN collaboration between Univision and Grupo Televisa, resulting in a completely unique and highly effective joint production arrangement between the two Spanish language media giants.
Under Loewenstein’s leadership, Univision and Televisa’s joint sports production hub generates more than 4,000 hours of studio shows per year, as well 6,000 hours of live events on TV and over 4,500 hours of events on ViX. He manages the largest live soccer portfolio in the industry, featuring 15 Liga MX clubs, the Mexican men’s national soccer, the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the Concacaf Gold Cup and many more. Additionally, Lowenstein leads the company’s burgeoning combat sports content offering, featuring the premier Hispanic mixed martial arts (MMA) franchise, Combate Global.
Prior to joining TelevisaUnivision, Loewenstein served as Samsung’s Global Strategy Group in Seoul, South Korea. There, he worked directly with the office of the Chairman developing and overseeing strategic initiatives around the world. His career began in consulting with Ernst & Young and Accenture, where he focused on consumer relationship management strategies and organic growth initiatives.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Loewenstein has received multiple Emmy awards as executive producer and was recognized by Sports Business Journal as part of the “Top Forty Under 40” class of 2018.
Loewenstein holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Universidad Católica Andres Bello in Venezuela and a master’s degree in business administration from INSEAD in France and Singapore. He also earned a specialization certificate in media from UCLA & IESE.
