
Chao, Megan
Megan Chao is an award-winning documentary producer and picture editor, and is currently the vice president of development and production for Birman Productions, Inc., based in Los Angeles. She has a successful track record of managing diverse creative teams and strategic partnerships, while spearheading projects from inception through show delivery.
Birman Productions specializes in premium factual multiplatform content, with a wide-ranging slate of documentaries and series. Clients include Warner Bros Discovery, Netflix, Nat Geo, CuriosityStream and PBS, among others.
Prior to her career in television, Megan was a scientist and science journalist, who published with The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, and worked at CBS/KNX 1070 Newsradio.
Megan has dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and nonfiction creative writing from the University of California at Riverside, and a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from USC. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Television Academy representing the documentary programming peer group, and is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
