Amayo, Johnathon

Chief Academic Officer at Key Code Media

Johnathon has worked in film and television production for over 25 years. He got his official start at 17yrs of age directing, shooting and editing documentaries in the U.S. Air Force’s 2nd Combat Camera Sq. where he spent time in combat operational zones documenting real-world events.

After his military service, Johnathon went to work for Avid Technology, Inc., a leader in film & TV technology as a Master Instructor, edited independent features and shorts, and directed several digital shorts pushing new technological platforms.

Johnathon directed and produced his first feature film in the winter of 2011 in his hometown of Detroit called Truck 20’s Location. He was also Sr. Vice President of Production and Post Production at Moviola where he designs workflows and manages productions for television shows Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He’s also co-founder of National Organization of Black Directors.

He’s currently Chief Academic Officer for Key Code Media, leading Key Code Education endeavors. He’s also VP, of Community Development for Runway, and consults with both software companies creating film tools, and lectures on film workflow for the Producers Guild of America.
