
Smith, Don
Don Smith, a 40+ year broadcast industry veteran, serves as the Director of New Technologies, Compliance, and Planning at PBS North Carolina.
Smith came to PBS North Carolina in 2001. He has served in a variety of technical capacities including Chief Technology Officer, Chief Engineer Network, and Engineering Supervisor. His current responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of PBS North Carolina’s Strategic Plan utilizing new technologies where applicable, providing leadership within the Technology Groups, and providing technical guidance related to FCC matters. One of his current projects is the implementation of NextGen TV / ATSC 3.0 related technologies into the PBS North Carolina media distribution infrastructure.
A native of North Carolina, Smith holds a B.A. in Radio Television and Motion Pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Smith and his wife Vallery live in Raleigh, North Carolina, with their pet cats.
