I have worked in broadcasting since 1973. I have extensive experience in planning, design, construction, and the operations of all facets of a television station. I am currently responsible for all technology at Iowa PBS including RF transmission facilities, and studio origination facilities throughout the State of Iowa. I am active in future broadcast planning on the national level and serve on a number of committees developing standards for emerging technologies for ATSC, SMPTE and IEEE. I am a Life Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and currently serve as the Central Region Governor. I am a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers one of the founding members of the ATSC and I have served four terms as president of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society. I am a member of the committee that started the Future of Broadcast Television (FoBTV) initiative in Shanghai, China which developed the use cases for NextGen TV. I continue to represent the BTS on the FoBTV committee. For my efforts in education the broadcast industry about DTV through the Iowa DTV Symposium for 10 year I was recognized by the SBE as the 2007 Educator of the Year. I am an active and passionate advocate for broadcasting services.
