Wheeler, Leonard

Leonard began his broadcasting career in 1979 in San Diego, California, working in radio sales while attending College. Leonard has served as President of Mel Wheeler, Inc. for more than 25 years. A Company he owns along with his two brothers. The company owns and operates an seven station cluster in Roanoke-Lynchburg, Virginia.

 His career experience has included:

General Manager of KLTE- FM radio in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Vice President of Sales for ABC Television station WSIL TV in Southern Illinois, General Manager of CBS station KRCG TV in Columbia/Jefferson City, Missouri.

Leonard has participated in three broadcast partnerships with Ukrainian Broadcasters and one broadcast partnership in the Republic of Georgia thru a program by the US Embassy in Ukraine to help develop independent media in the former Soviet Countries.

Leonard has served as President of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and joined the NAB Board in 2019.
