Alvarez-Mesa, Mauricio

Dr. Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa is CEO and Co-founder of Spin Digital, a German company specialized in high performance video codecs for next-generation media. Mauricio has been part of several international research projects and high value demonstrations related to immersive media and ultra-high-quality video and has published several papers and a book in the field of video compression and high-performance computing. Mauricio holds a Ph.D. degree in Computing Engineering from UPC (Barcelona, Spain) and an Electronic Engineering degree from University of Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia). He currently co-chairs the Encode/Decode group at the 8K association. He is a member of the IEEE, ACM and SMPTE.
