David Ronca is the Director of Video Processing, part of the Video Infra Team at Meta. Video Infra provides the platform that enables the Meta Family of Applications to deliver a high-quality Live & VOD video experience at global scale, leveraging best-in-class encoding technologies, and a highly tuned, high-scale, energy-efficient processing platform. Prior to Facebook, David spent 11 years at Netflix, as the founder and director of the Encoding Technologies team, where he drove many innovations such as inspection-driven workflows, complexity-based encoding, and VMAF. David also drove the development of the Technical Emmy-winning global subtitle standard, “IMSC 1.1”. David’s current passion is reducing the complexity, cost, and power requirements of video; one of the top consumers of power in global data centers.
